Out of 10,000 feet of fall, always remember
that the last half inch hurts the most

Who we are

2 way hybrid

Even though there is some evidence that around the 12th century, in China, some people used to jump from high places with rigid umbrellas (1) , the development of skydiving in Asia is still far from satisfactory. In Asia, the sport is much less accessible than it is in Europe, in USA or in Australia for instance.

Of course this situation is worrying for enthusiastic skydivers because the lack of facilities and the small number of jumpers make the activity expensive and difficult to plan and organize. Currently, regular jumping is closer to a sweet dream than a reality.

For the newcomers, this situation is just a major turn off.

"Skydive Asia" is a group of skydivers willing to promote and develop skydiving independently of any commercial interests. We are people of very different origins, from many different countries and with different levels of involvement in the sport. Our experience of skydiving ranges from skydiver wannabees or even just supporters, to very experienced skydivers with thousands of jumps and impressive collections of ratings delivered by the most competent skydiving associations in the world.

All of the members in our group are united by our passion for the sport. All of us believe that it is one of the most exciting and thrilling experience in our life. We want to fully enjoy this experience and share it with all other people who wish to enjoy skydiving. To achieve this goal we have decided to organize our efforts. "Skydive Asia" is the name of this synergy.

Our objectives

SKYDIVING!

Ooops, sorry for shouting so loudly. Ok, after the short answer, let me explain. Independant and individual efforts are not really fun: whatever the time, the energy and the money you spend to achieve your goals, there are so many difficulties to tackle that it's likely to run short of motivation before getting any significant result. Collective effort is much more rewarding and much more efficient. The main purpose of "Skydive Asia" is to help people willing to promote and develop skydiving, to coordinate their actions and to build a strong skydiving community in Asia.

Many points deserve our attention, hence our objectives cover all the aspects of skydiving. For instance:

The main contribution of "Skydive Asia" will be to coordinate the actions and the efforts of people willing to promote and develop skydiving in Asia. The starting point is to provide accurate and up to date information about who's who and what's going on. Given the small size of the skydiving community in Asia currently, most of the evolution will be a result of the effort of individuals.

As most of the skydivers in Asia have to travel a lot to find the opportunities to jump, we chose to extend our efforts to a really large geographic area: Asia. It's a huge continent, but unfortunately with a very small number of skydivers. Most of us face the same difficulties, it's a good reason to unite our efforts. So, of course everybody is welcome.

Your involvement

We need people. Just telling us that you are here and willing to go skydiving is already a huge step. This will increase dramatically the number of opportunities to organize skydiving trips. This will also create the essence of a lively community which is important because having fun together while skydiving increases everyone's enjoyment and motivation. You want to jump? Tell us.

We need information. Information about you, information about your drop zones, information about everything related to skydiving. Providing information is one of the main purposes of this website. So, if there is any information that you want to share with us, if you find anything missing or inaccurate in these pages, please tell us.

We need ideas and action. How can you enjoy skydiving more? How can you do more skydiving? What difficulties do you face in skydiving? What can help you get more out of skydiving? Are you already involved in any action related to skydiving? If you can provide any input, please tell us.

(1) Skydiving, in Bahasa (Indonesian) is translated "Terjun Payung", meaning literally "Umbrella Jump".
