When you take a census of your balls, if you find four
then the ennemy is behind you -- Lao Tseu
One day in December I decided enough talking, I wanted to know how the ultimate adrenaline experience, skydiving, would feel. After making this incredible courageous decision I found 3 more crazy ones who were ready to give their dull Singapore life an extra kick. First the four of us met with the representative of the skydiving organization and signed our life away? yes we understood that it would be at OUR risk if the parachute didn't open - yes we understood that WE were taking the risk that we could die?unlikely, but possible? even with all this cheerful information nothing could stop us! Our minds were made up!!! Saturday, the day of the scheduled jump, arrived and slowly it started to sink in what an enormous adventure was laying ahead of us.
First my Tandem Master gave me all the necessary instructions?head up, hands out, bend legs? then the call came: The airplane is ready. Now mentioning airplanes?a few little details to describe this plane - no doors, space for 6, no seats, the plane was something ?I thought they must be joking?this cute little play plane is it?!? Never mind too late to change my mind. A little shaky I'm in the plane sitting in front of my Tandem Master, seeing slowly the earth moving farther away?thinking: Don't panic, everything will be ok?oh god why didn't I call my parents to tell them that I love them?if at least the door could be closed?don't panic, I will be fine?why am I doing this?please just let me get through this?everything is cool, don't panic?
Jolanda it's your turn, I'm sure my heart stopped beating for a second. My Tandem Master gently pushing me forward to the "door less hole in the plane"?told me to grab the outside holder, put your legs on the steps and now let your hands go?on nooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhh and I'm flying. Oh my god!!! I'm flying and realizing the most indescribable feeling you could ever imagine!!! After 5 seconds the Tandem Master taps me on the shoulder -the sign for me to hold my arms out - then 30 seconds later he taps me again - the sign to cross my hands over my breast and then he pulled the parachute. Uhhhhhhaaaaaaaa and up we go and then the most peaceful ambiance you could experience - no sound, we're just gently gliding through the sky. Amazing how beautiful everything is from 4,000 feet. Slowly we approach the landing area and here comes the last command: legs up and softly we land on our bums J.
What a feeling, I could sing, dance, kiss and hug anybody. I can't stop talking how exhilarating everything feels ? I guess I'm still on cloud nine
Now would I do it again? I let you decide.
